ELLE Magazine – Behind The Scenes

Two swimming pools full of inflatable tubes, floats, and beach balls awaited Jessica Alba as she rolled up the driveway to ELLE’s cover shoot locale—a midcentury home in Beverly Hills—in her hybrid GMC Yukon. Sipping fresh-squeezed juice made from her own backyard oranges, Alba worked her way through rack after rack of whimsical brights by Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, and Louis Vuitton and tried on accessories by Tom Binns and Alexis Bittar, while her two-year-old daughter, Honor Marie, took advantage of the property’s sprawling backyard. With Drake, Kings of Leon, and My Morning Jacket blaring in the background, Alba talked about wanting to work on a film that her daughter could enjoy—perhaps Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World, out next summer, will do the trick?

The family was fresh from a getaway in France, and Honor proudly showed off a prodigious French vocabulary, as Alba coached her to trill “s’il vous plaît” and “merci” for the crew. Then it was down to business: The actress gravitated toward a Miu Miu printed blouse and tap shorts and a hot pink Z Spoke by Zac Posen dress. After the shoot wrapped, she tweeted a candid pic of herself in a Chanel dress posing with ELLE’s creative director, Joe Zee, and photographer Carter Smith, adding the line “I luv working with @mrjoezee and Carter Smith!” Jessica, the feeling is mutual!

Head over to for tips on how to create Alva’s cover look.

Jessica Alba covers British GQ November 2010

Our cover star for the November is unveiled: the incredible Jessica Alba, star of this month’s Machete

See all of Gavin Bond’s pictures of Ms Alba and read her interview with Piers Morgan only in British GQ, out on Thursday 7 October.

Watch our world exclusive short film of Jessica Alba, British GQ’s cover star for the November issue and the leading lady in Robert Rodriguez’s gloriously debauched Machete. *See BELOW. (

The Fantastic Four star strips to her smalls – and it’s easy to figure why her killer curves are the main attraction of crime thriller Machete.

But amazingly the actress, mum of two-year-old Honor, claims childbirth has left her stretched and droopy.

She said: “My breasts are saggy, I’ve got cellulite, my hips are bigger… every actress out there is more beautiful than me.”

Jessica, 29, also revealed she used to be TERRIFIED of taking her clothes off for the camera.

“I’ve never been comfortable showing my body off. I used to have anxiety attacks before shoots,” she said.

These days anything goes – well, almost. Jessica draws the line at baring all, despite a “nude” shower scene in Machete, which opens next month. Digital trickery was used – she wore white undies that were edited out.

She said: “I’ll never do a nude scene. I can act sexy and wear sexy clothes but can’t go naked.”

Despite her “big hips and cellulite”, the actress insists she’s completely comfortable with her own body, declaring: “I love it.”

Well, we Alba-sutely love it too, Jess. (

Machete Press Junket Interviews

Jessica Alba on The David Letterman Show – August 10, 2010

Jessica Alba appeared on the David Letterman show last night (August 30, 2010) to promote ‘Machete’. Talking about the film with Letterman, Jessica said she struggled to contain her nerves when she first started working with DeNiro.
She said: ‘When I found out I was doing a movie with Robert De Niro and I totally got like blank in my mind, lost all of my lines, I stuttered, I freaked out and I broke into a sweat.

Talking about Honor, Jessica said: ‘She’s walking and talking, she has lots of opinions. She talks about everything she wants and needs. She said she wants coffee in the morning.

‘So I give her water in a coffee cup, she likes to have big girl cups and she likes big boy T-shirts and princess dresses. I didn’t even teach her that stuff!’

Jessica Alba ‘Inspired’ Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Spy Kids 4’

Let’s face it, Jessica Alba is known for her sexy factor. No matter what role she’s in, be it a superhero (“Fantastic Four”), a pharmaceutical sales rep (in the upcoming “Little Fockers”) or an immigration officer (this week’s “Machete”), Alba’s addition to any cast turns up its heat.
Such is even the case with Robert Rodriguez’s “Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World.” When MTV News caught up with the actress and her director at the L.A. premiere of “Machete” earlier this week, we asked them how her casting came to be.

“I was so inspired, seeing her on [the ‘Machete’] set trying to be beautiful for the camera and yet having to [run off] to change her baby’s diaper,” Rodriguez explained. “I thought, ‘You know what, that would be great as a spy mom, I’ve got to write that in.’ ”

And since Rodriguez is the writer/director/creator of the “Spy Kids” franchise, he did just that. “I wrote that into the script, based on her,” he said of what will be his third film with Alba.

The 28-year-old actress/mom said she’s most looking forward to working with Rodriguez again — and to eating more of the director’s specialty: homemade margherita pizza with jalapeños.

Moving forward, Rodriguez has yet to cast his new titular spy kids, the husband to Alba’s spy wife/mom or the villain Time Keeper. Original “Spy Kids” Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara, as well as their onscreen dad, Antonio Banderas, are expected to play supporting roles. Production is set to begin next month.
