Jessica Alba breaking free with Braun Beauty #breakfree

breakfreeJessica Alba is supporting a brand new campaign which is urging women to break free of self-doubt and support each other in achievements.

Research shows that women experience self-doubt, largely through fear of peer judgement and that it is mutual encouragement from other females that can help them break free to feel their best.

The research comes as Braun and Jessica Alba launch the #Breakfree campaign, calling on women worldwide to support and encourage each other in an effort to break free from self-doubt and feel their best.

Jessica Alba, who was recently named as the brand’s new Beauty Ambassador, said, “I completely relate to feelings of self-doubt and feeling judged but, happily, I also know personally how wonderfully empowering female positive reinforcement is. I’m asking women to say, show and share their support to female friends, family, colleagues – sisters everywhere. Let’s give each other the confidence to break free from self-doubt and all walk that little bit taller. Think of a woman you admire today and tell her!

Alessandra Dolfini, Global Braun Marketing Director, explains, “Our campaign is about encouraging women to express positivity towards each other and stop judgment. We are launching this campaign with the hashtag #breakfree. We want to spark a positivity chain whereby women share messages of support with women they admire and respect – let’s start a sisterhood movement that’s too irresistible to stop.

ET talks to Jessica Alba’s brother Joshua

ET caught up with Jessica Alba’s brother Joshua, getting him to spill details on what it’s like to grow up with a famous sibling.

As Joshua tells it, wherever Jessica’s acting career led her, he had to tag along.

“It was fun for me,” said Joshua, 31, who explained that being exposed to the entertainment industry helped him come out of his shell. “I got to meet a lot of people and do a lot of things.”

Jessica began her career in the mid ’90s on projects such as Camp Nowhere, The Secret World of Alex Mack and Flipper. Joshua’s first role came in 2001 on Jessica’s show, Dark Angel.

“She was gracious enough to let me do it with her,” said Joshua, who was fresh out of high school when he scored the role.

Joshua made it clear that his No. 1 priority is his family, which could account for why Jessica’s sudden fame felt strange to him at first.

“To me, she’s just my sister — someone I used to fight with all the time, you know?” said Joshua.

One of those fights came after a scary car accident when Joshua was just 15. Despite the lack of a driver’s license, Joshua found himself drag racing in his parents’ old car. In the middle of the race, Joshua lost control and left the car nearly totaled. Fortunately, Joshua escaped the accident unharmed, but he knew he wasn’t out of the woods yet. He still had to face his mom and dad.

“The first person I called was my sister,” said Joshua, who pleaded with Jessica not to tell their parents. “She came to get me and she was furious.”

Jessica Alba’s sustainable venture raising $25 million

She may not be away from the camera forever, but actress Jessica Alba is busy these days with her second job selling baby wipes, stain remover and aromatic soy candles.

The Honest Co., which the “Fantastic Four” star co-founded with CEO Brian Lee in 2012, is now raising $25 million to develop new product lines and expand into brick-and-mortar stores.

Alba told “Street Signs” she started the company because she wanted to sell “the safest, healthiest products available” and wanted them “to be affordable and beautiful.”

The Honest Co. offers a $400 crib, for example, that is made with sustainable wood and nontoxic paint, and that can be configured four ways. It is also a “one-for-one” offer—meaning the company will donate a crib for every one purchased.

Lee said the expansion includes moving from an online-only model to physical locations, because 90 percent of U.S. consumers do their shopping in stores.

Apart from the company, Alba keeps her money in securities and real estate.

“I am pretty safe and conservative, so I don’t have a lot of risky investments,” she said.
