Jessica Alba looked stunning as she attended the SXSW Music, Film and Interactive Festival (March 15) Jessica attended the festival to discuss ‘The Honest Company.’

Jessica and CEO Brian Lee spoke about the success of Honest and how Honest plans to grow and expand in the near future… “Our customers are demanding that we go even further and offer solids and snacks and later stage foods as well,” said Alba. “And our customers have also asked us to do more personal care, so feminine care is a vertical we’re launching in the summer, and in the fall, beauty. Both of those verticals we’ve been working on for years, it’s just now that we’re at the point we can finally launch them.”

London’s Evening Standard – Dressing up with Jessica Alba

Growing up in the 1980s, one of my earliest memories is of me in a terrycloth jumpsuit with rainbows on it and jelly shoes. My mum was 18 when she got pregnant and 19 when she had me. She then basically dressed me as a mini version of herself. There were a lot of Prince- and Madonna-inspired looks.

TV characters made a huge impression on me when I was younger, especially Claire Danes in My So-Called Life, and [the character] Kelly Bundy from Married with Children.

I’ve had several ‘What was I thinking?’ moments. In my late teens and early twenties I was a mess, I really didn’t have a clue. I remember wearing some outfits that showed my lower stomach, below the belly button. It was bad news, but then I got it together when I was 22.

With my first pay cheque I bought a Lanvin cashmere cable-knit sweater that had a gold thread through it. I still wear it.

When I want to put on sexy stuff in bed, I wear Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s M&S line. She’s a friend; she sent me some samples and I love them. For more classic pyjamas I wear a line called Marigot from New York.

I really enjoyed the costumes for Sin City. I needed a leather jacket for a scene and I already owned this beautiful Ralph Lauren one with wide shoulders and a tight waist, so I told the costume designer. She worked her magic and studded it up like crazy, and now my Ralph Lauren leather jacket has a metal cross and studs and spikes. It looks like armour.

When I’m filming, my trailer is always incredibly neat. I am really into being organised because otherwise how do you know where everything is? I label everything.

I give myself two hours upwards to get ready for an event, with someone else doing my hair and make-up. I could probably do it in 45 minutes, but I like to chat and my daughters Honor, five, and Haven, two, normally want my attention. When I do it myself I can’t be bothered, I just want to get it done; it’s 20 minutes max usually.

Almost every day my daughters will dress up in their pyjamas with my shoes on. I tell them they are going to fall over, especially in the high heels, so I encourage them to play with the flats instead.

Last Halloween I played Cher from The Witches of Eastwick and my other girlfriends were Michelle Pfeiffer and Susan Sarandon.

I’ve just been to Paris Fashion Week. I loved every pair of Kenzo shoes that I saw. A lot of stuff at Dior was gorgeous — there was a stunning cobalt-blue coat. At Nina Ricci there were maroon and grey clothes that were beautiful and a maroon lacy gown. Those were the standouts.

At the H&M show I was sitting next to Solange Knowles and Jourdan Dunn. I told Jourdan that when I come back I want to look like her. That girl is flawless.

When I die all my organs will be donated, so I don’t know how much of me will be left to be buried in anything special. – Standard.co.uk

Jessica Alba reveals daughter Honor was unimpressed with her voicing a villain in Escape From Planet Earth

Escape-from-Planet-Earth-Jessica-Alba-as-LenaSpeaking to MailOnline exclusively about the new movie, Jessica said: ‘My daughter was three and a half when she first saw the movie and now she’s five. But she was mainly really confused about why I was playing the baddie. She was like, “Is she evil?” And then she said, “Are you?” So I said, “Honor, it’s just fun, it’s just a movie – it’s like playing dress up”.

‘But she said, “Why does she have to be bad? Next time, can you play the nice one?” I couldn’t really tell her that it was actually fun to play the baddie!’

Escape From Planet Earth is a departure in more ways than one for Jessica, who made her animated film debut with the role.

And admitting shooting an animated film was more than a little different than what she was used to, Jessica said: I really enjoyed it actually. It was a totally foreign process for me because I didn’t even see any of the other actors who were in the film and for the first couple of days of recording I didn’t even know what my character looked like.

‘It was nice to be able to just go to a studio and play around. It was really good.’

Despite the film having a stellar voice cast, with Brendan Fraser and Sofia Vergara also voicing characters in the film, Jessica didn’t get to meet her co-stars while recording.

She said: ‘We all recorded our scenes separately. I often just worked with the writer who did the other voices.

‘I had him to bounce off of but it is very different when you see the final cut to see how they interact. It was a little bit strange for sure, but that’s just how they do it with the animated films.’

Escape From Planet Earth tells the story of famed astronaut Scorch Supernova (voiced by Fraser) who gets trapped by evil forces on a ‘Dark Planet’, also known as Earth, and has to be rescued by his brother.

But while a lot of the movie is set in space, Jessica admits that exploring the outer realms of the universe isn’t something she’s particularly keen to do.

She said: ‘I have no desire to go into space. I’m claustrophobic so I think I would just freak out if I was in space, I would just want to get out of there. I don’t think I could do that.’

Jessica also spoke about the upcoming new Fantastic Four movie – a remake of the film in which she played Sue Storm.

She added: ‘I think it’s great they’re doing another Fantastic Four – I love that comic book series. I think it’s such a sweet story about family and camaraderie and everyone using their strengths together for the greater good.

‘The Incredibles, which is a sort of animated version of it, is still one of my daughters’ favourite movies, I think because of the universal theme, and Escape From Planet Earth is very much like that – it’s about family togetherness, and putting family first, and that’s why I liked it in the first place.’

In addition to Escape From Planet Earth, Jessica recently reprised her role as Nancy Callahan in upcoming sequel to Sin City – A Dame To Kill For.

She said: ‘She was a really fun character to play again because she’s so different in this film – she’s really a mess. She’s an alcoholic, she’s depressed, so to play someone who’s so completely different to who I am – you know, I have a business, I have kids and I’m a wife and have responsibilities. So to play someone who was just a hot mess was really fun.

‘And then she avenges herself and turns her life around in this really cool, dark way, and becomes this warrior by the end.

‘So it was cool to be able to play someone who starts off as a mess and so self destructive and then by the end she is really taking control of her destiny.’

As well as her movie career, Jessica has had huge success with her company Honest, and is also kept busy with five-year-old Honor and her youngest daughter Haven, two.

But Jessica said she has managed to work out the best way to balance her work and personal lives.

She said: ‘It doesn’t really take that much time to do a movie. Some movies that I do I can do in a week, and you can shoot all of your stuff in that time.

‘And then others you can do two days here, two days there. I’m about to do two movies back to back but they’re both in LA and they’re both about four weeks each, and I think that’s all I’m going to do this year. It’s actually kind of okay.’

Escape From Planet Earth hits cinemas nationwide in the UK on March 7th.

ET talks to Jessica Alba’s brother Joshua

ET caught up with Jessica Alba’s brother Joshua, getting him to spill details on what it’s like to grow up with a famous sibling.

As Joshua tells it, wherever Jessica’s acting career led her, he had to tag along.

“It was fun for me,” said Joshua, 31, who explained that being exposed to the entertainment industry helped him come out of his shell. “I got to meet a lot of people and do a lot of things.”

Jessica began her career in the mid ’90s on projects such as Camp Nowhere, The Secret World of Alex Mack and Flipper. Joshua’s first role came in 2001 on Jessica’s show, Dark Angel.

“She was gracious enough to let me do it with her,” said Joshua, who was fresh out of high school when he scored the role.

Joshua made it clear that his No. 1 priority is his family, which could account for why Jessica’s sudden fame felt strange to him at first.

“To me, she’s just my sister — someone I used to fight with all the time, you know?” said Joshua.

One of those fights came after a scary car accident when Joshua was just 15. Despite the lack of a driver’s license, Joshua found himself drag racing in his parents’ old car. In the middle of the race, Joshua lost control and left the car nearly totaled. Fortunately, Joshua escaped the accident unharmed, but he knew he wasn’t out of the woods yet. He still had to face his mom and dad.

“The first person I called was my sister,” said Joshua, who pleaded with Jessica not to tell their parents. “She came to get me and she was furious.”

Nightline Interiew: Jessica Alba Leads Mommy War on Synthetic Chemicals

Jessica Alba, famous for her roles in “Dark Angel,” “Sin City” and the “Fantastic Four,” is taking on her most serious role yet warning mothers about what she said are the dangers of toxic chemicals in many everyday products.

The 32-year-old actress and mother of two became worried about this issue when she was pregnant with her first child and had an allergic reaction to a brand of baby laundry detergent.

I was like … I’m an adult, and if I’m having an allergic reaction, like who knows what’s going to happen with my baby,” Alba said. “So I did some research, and I found that there are a lot of toxic chemicals in everyday products, and I was more horrified to find that there are more toxic chemicals in baby products.

Alba’s concerns have propelled her to become the public face of a movement of people trying to avoid synthetic chemicals. It started for Alba when she met Christopher Gavigan, the author of “Healthy Child, Healthy World,” a guidebook on living a healthier lifestyle.

I asked … what products do I buy, and he was like, ‘Well, this company does that one thing and this company does that one thing,’ and I was like, ‘Gosh, why isn’t there a company that does everything. This is so stressful,'” Alba said.

The duo teamed up to help create the Honest Company, a mail-order business that started out by selling 17 products made of ingredients they claim are safe and tested, unlike conventional products.

“We don’t have a regulatory system in place here in the United States at least that allows for and or monitors and or requires reporting on what’s inside,” Gavigan said. “So the raw materials and the ingredients … they don’t have to report those. They don’t have to prove they are safe before they hit the marketplace.”

Inside Jessica Alba’s Closet and more… with thecoveteur.com

Thecoveteur who previously did a story on the Honest Company have done one a new one with Jessica at home. Full of style tips, a look inside her closest and much more. Check out the story and pictures below:

Being cast in James Cameron’s Dark Angel is the most memorable opportunity of my career. Breaking into the entertainment industry under his direction and guidance was life changing — he taught me a lot of the values I still apply today to my work as an actress and at The Honest Company “.

This one’s been a long time in the making, guys.

When we had the chance to sit down with Jessica Alba over champagne and cupcakes to celebrate her book launch earlier this spring, we mutually vowed that we’d give the superhuman actress/entrepeneur/mom the Coveteur treatment before the year was out. And guess who kept their promise?

We spent the better part of the day with Alba, first touring her Beverly Hills home and closet before heading over to The Honest Company’s headquarters. Welcoming us at her door, she got right to the goods, leading us up to the pièce de résistance—her closet. “Who doesn’t love all shoes?!” Alba exclaimed while showing us the (seriously) impressive shelves upon shelves housing her collection. Oh, and it turns out that running in Alba’s crew (which includes Cov-alums Kelly Sawyer, Hedi Gores, the WhoWhatWear duo of Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power,  and Jen Atkin) comes with its perks, “[My shoes] don’t mind being shared with my friends!” Must be nice, right?

And for the girl whose ‘fashion mishaps’ at one time included, “deliberately mismatched socks, hair scrunchies, high tops” and a “tomboy meets Prince (yes, the musician) outfits,” she’s certainly come a long way. Except for that one time, though. “Once I wore a dress backward because I couldn’t tell which way was front. I have also had seams split, zippers burst… it’s all happened. So, the lesson I’ve carried forward? Pay special attention to your undergarments.”

Our peek inside Alba’s home only expounded the point that attempting to go the all-natural-everything route doesn’t necessitate sacrificing your Giuseppes for granola. Oh, and you know how Alba and her business partners hit up Craigslist and even went dumpster diving to outfit Honest? The same savvy approach to decor extends to Alba’s own home, too, “I love wallpaper and upcycling flea market finds,” she confessed to us. Alba even allowed us to take a peek inside little Honor and Haven’s (that would be her two adorable daughters) closets. “My oldest daughter Honor has a distinct sense of style and likes to pick out her own clothes!”

And though her walk-in won our hearts, it was her magical outdoor space that instantly had us plotting our move to the West Coast. From the rainbow-bright pillows to the enormous gnome (which we thought just wasn’t complete without a white CHANEL bag slung across it), every inch of her backyard playground had that signature Alba-touch to it. And after a long day’s work, we couldn’t help but retreat to the mini black-and-white striped teepee, where we sat and kicked it with the actress. Work hard, play hard, right? – Thecoveteur.com

Jessica Alba and Makeup Artist Lauren Andersen featured in TheHollywoodReporter’s Beauty Issue

Jessica Alba and friend/Make-up artist Lauren Anderson are featured in The Hollywood Reporter‘s Beauty Issue, which looks back at the top 25 beauty moments of the past year.

“We met at her 14th birthday party,” says Alba. “It was a ’70s-themed party; everyone had to dress up.” Adds Andersen: “I wardrobed all of our friends.” Alba: “It was amazing, she really went for it, and that’s when I knew, ‘Yeah, that’s my dog right there.’ ”

normal_030WHEN: The Golden Globe Awards, Jan. 13

WHY IT MATTERS: An unexpected beauty move delivered the best look of the night and made coral-orange lips the “it” color.

MUST-HAVE PRODUCT: Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick

The inspiration for Alba’s bold lip was her strapless melon-hued Oscar de la Renta mermaid gown. Much like the dress, the makeup needed to be “classic with a touch of something unexpected,” says Avon Global Celebrity makeup artist Lauren Andersen.

For a “warm and glowy” complexion, Andersen used tinted moisturizer, a light dusting of rose pink Hourglass blush and a soft neutral eye palette of espresso liner and sand shadow. “With the rest of the face soft and pretty, her lips were ready to take on all of the focus,” says Andersen, who painted Alba’s pout vibrant orange with Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Riviera, a long-wearing matte lipstick.

Her Globes moment ignited the year’s citrus-hued lipstick frenzy on the red carpet (worn by Drew Barrymore, Selena Gomez and Bella Thorne) and on the spring 2014 runways (spotted at Prabal Gurung, Rag & Bone, DKNY). Says Andersen: “It’s fun to be experimental with beauty, and a bold lip is an easy way to play.” Speaking of playing, Alba and Andersen have known each other since their early teens, when they staged photo shoots from Caboodles kits full of makeup. Says Alba, 32, “We would go to the mall [where] every color eye shadow was glittery. It was like a budget version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Glitter everywhere! [Working with Andersen] feels like that, just fun.”
